In addition to courses specifically offered to help VHBA members and other contractors obtain and maintain their Dwelling Contractor Qualifier (DCQ) credentials, Valley Home Builders Association offers courses to assist professionals working in a variety of professions within the housing industry.
Some classes listed here will include DCQ credit, and those will be noted as such. VHBA invites any member or non-member to participate in current courses:
Lead Safe Renovator Training - As of April 22, 2010, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services along with the EPA is requiring those involved in renovations in homes built prior to 1978, disturbing more than 6 sq. ft. of interior space or more than 20 sq. ft. of exterior space to have Wisconsin Lead-Safe Renovator certification. This could include remodeling, repair, rehab, weatherization, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, window refinishing, carpentry, etc. Through the WBA Foundation, Valley Home Builders and other builders associations across the state are currently offering classes.
